3·1 month agoSame here, here’s q tip beside addblocks, if you’re still watching yt content, use PipePipe for android based phone, and Smartube TV for android TV. There will be no adds, and the apps skip sponsored segment automatically.
Been running GOS for a couple years now, it’s flawless, I’ve installed it on my wife’s phone as well, she has no issues with it either, so really no need to be a hardcore nerd to run it, just follow the instructions and reach out to the appropriate community/forum if need be.
Side note, I used to run Lineage, GOS is a breeze to install and run compared to Lineage (which was great, don’t get me wrong, shout out to the devs!).

3·2 months agoCheck out the firewall settings, it could be the issue. Also don’t forget to turn off VPN on both devices if you’re using one.

1·2 months agoThat’s a great suggestion, thank you !
Been using cinnamon for a couple years and I’m happy with it, although I don’t spend much time on my computer. Been recommending it as well since I don’t know any better. What’s the most user friendly distro you would recommend ?

2·2 months agoThank you for the suggestion, not a fan of FUTO, it’s not FOSS and owners are shady to say the less. But I appreciate you taking the time to reply !

3·2 months agoHi, thanks a lot for you reply, I did tried miracast, but nothing shows up, I’ll dig into it later. I’m running Graphene here, so there may be a security feature blocking casting, I should investigate this as well.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Self-hosting in 2025 isn't about privacy anymore - it's about building resistance infrastructure
4·2 months agoI think about it but I have no idea where to start and how this works. Also I assumed that with my crappy skills self hosting may be a big vulnerability!?

Never going back unless I’m forced to do so.
