My personal deck arrives tomorrow - had the lucky opportunity to experience one and that pretty much sold me!

I’ll be playing mostly 2d/isometric games like Project Highrise and Overcrowd, maybe a bit of Palworld too.

I’m really enjoying Trine 4 (the sale got me). I’m what the kids call a “casual”, but I’m really enjoying the puzzles and the combat. It’s also a really pretty game.

I’ll have to check it out.

Trine 1-3 have always had a special place in my “this looks nice, but somehow is one of the few 2d games that won’t run on any PC I have ever owned” list.

But my SteamDeck has been amazing at letting me experience games from that list!

I’ve just finished playing RealMyst (god that had some tricky and sometimes convoluted puzzles), and installed Bloodstained last night. So will hopefully start that later - I’ve heard good things!

Oblivion Override - runs like a dream. Since it’s basically Dead Cells but with robots and more boss fights it was a no brainer for me. The controls are smooth and while the fights can be real chaotic I enjoy it a lot so far

I’ve spent a lot of time in Dead Cells on other platforms, but have held off on rebuying it on steam. Didn’t really want to lose my progress or rebuy all the dlc. So the idea of a comparable quality Dead-Cells-like is very appealing.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth has been taking all my time since it came out. I’m not very far into the game yet, I just unlocked the Pokemon parody and have been spending my recent time going between that and the crazy taxi-like mini game.

Currently playing through Mother 3. Great game, but not surprised it never got a Western release with all its dark themes.

Shifting my primary gaming from Switch to SteamDeck has really let SnowRunner shine.

I don’t know if it’s the move from MudRunner, or if MudRunner on Switch is massively cut down.

But either way, SnowRunner on SteamDeck is so pretty, and it feels a lot bigger and more diverse than MudRunner did on Switch.

Lies of P is great on the Deck, been churning through that. Highly recommended if you enjoy Soulslikes.

Palworld is mine. I’ve been loving it so far.

I’d say a couple things though:

      1. Don’t expect perfection. It’s still early access and there are bugs. They put out a patch last night that fixed some of the most glaring issues, but there’s still some wonky stuff. I’d recommend, when you build your base, to keep all the workstations that pals use on the ground level, and build your ceiling/second floor two units high. Some larger pals can’t get through single tall doorways.

      2. Feel free to play around with your server settings if you want things a little easier/harder (but I’d say definitely turn off structure decay right away, and maybe increase pal spawn rate slightly, mine is at 1.2x and feels good). The game is almost entirely customizable to what you want it to be, everything between super casual fun and hardcore survival is easy to set up.

      3. Don’t stress about min/maxing everything just yet. First of all, you probably simply don’t need it while leveling up. Second, people don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about yet. There are conflicting sources for the best of pretty much everything. So just play how you like (but I’d say wait until you have a pal you know you’ll use endgame before powering it up with essence/condensing, those can’t be refunded to my knowledge).

Oh that’s my bad. I missed what community this was in. I don’t have any steam deck specific knowledge.

I’ve heard about some performance issues on multiplayer servers for console users, but iirc most people don’t have issues for single player. Wish I could say more but I’ve only played on PC, sorry.

That’s fine, I was just curious because Your previous answer sounded like you had a lot of experience in the game.

I guess I probably have more experience than the average player, about 25 hours so far. But I also learned my 3rd point the hard way, by doing ~10 hours of research outside of playing to try to optimize. It mostly just drove me crazy, but I did pick up a lot of little helpful tidbits. So if anyone has any general gameplay questions I’m happy to do my best to answer!

Just know I definitely don’t consider myself an expert by any means. I’m not even at the level cap yet.

Halls of Torment. I can’t get enough. Like Vampire Survivors, but cooler and with a slap of Diablo 2 “paint”. Best $5 I’ve spent since…well…Vampire Survivors.

I recently installed it and just had to run it in desktop mode first to skip the activation bit and it works with all DLCs enabled.

The game looks like something I would enjoy, but the reviews give me pause.

It has insane 3rd party DRM that requires you to call the publisher on a landline if you want to reinstall

This sounds pretty wild if true, but this review is also from 7 years ago so hopefully things have changed.

        Didn’t experienced this.

While another just mentioned to run it once in desktop mode and then with all DLC enabled in game mode.

Started octopath traveller and streets of rage 4 in addition to Hellblade Senua’s sacrifice. I recently finished just cause 3 and guardians of the galaxy.

I started Chronic Trigger! I’ve never played it and if you go through the effort to release your retro game on a modern platform then I feel like I owe it to ya to not just use a ROM

I’m 8 hours in and the writing and story is holding up very well! I’ve had to look up a few things when I get lost but it’s a blast!
