You probably already know, but FoundryVTT is pretty fantastic. The software/base VTT itself is not open source, but the rule systems and modules (QOL add-ons) mostly are. I self host my own server.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Pokemon Legends Z-A is ‘the best-selling physical game of the year so far’ in the USEnglish
5·2 months agoI’ve enjoyed Ultraviolet. I remember seeing a clip of a fan made pokemon game that had a pretty unique art style. I think they remade it unreal 5? It looked nice, but I haven’t been able to locate it for awhile so perhaps it either got taken down or was fake.
Have one unraid lifetime license, just paid for a second license yearly for my backup off-site machine. Been using truenas on the off-site, but its primary storage is USB which I didn’t realize truenas isn’t fond of. Ah well. It’ll be a little easier this way, anywho.

1·8 months agoI’m pretty new to Linux (currently on Mint) and I have yet to get Easy Effects to work. I’m certain I’m the problem, but I’ve tried following guides and videos, yet as soon as I try using it, my friends on Discord say my audio becomes garbled and robotic. One of these days I’ll sort it out. One of these days lol

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What webapps do you selfhost that aren't media/game servers?English
5·9 months agoI see mention of Foundry, I upvote. My friends and I have been using it for a couple years and still find new ways to be impressed by it.
I am. Paid plan equates to like $2-3 per month. Tied it into Tailscale (I think TS has official docs explaining how) and haven’t given it another thought.
On mobile but look up TRASH guides. That’s what I used in my setup and I’m able to watch stuff almost as soon as it downloads and I still let it seed for awhile after. Also using Unraid, Arr apps, and Jellyfin.

Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•Just tried Immich to replace Google photosEnglish
9·1 year agoMy wife and I use Immich via Tailscale to avoid the need of any proxying and serious account management. That said, I have yet to fully transition from GP because I have at least one shared album that a few dozen people regularly access. Still need to test setting up a shared album w/ reverse proxy for this one. But then if I want to share another album I’d likely need to set up another proxy…or see if shared albums share a common URL I could use as a catch all. Still need to test.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Selfhosted alternative to google keep/onenote/evernote/goodnotes?English
10·1 year agoBeen using Logseq since February and it’s been a game changer. My only gripes are a) inability to access via browsers, and b) lack of a quick note function. Sometimes I still use Keep to jot something down and transfer later. Logseq spends a solid 5+ seconds syncing upon opening, which can feel like an eternity when trying to quickly log something.

21·2 years agoI like the idea of using spotdl and yt-dlp but my eyes gloss over as soon as I see that there is no GUI. Lidarr kinda sucks but it gets me pretty close to what I need. Wish I was more comfy without a GUI but don’t really have the time to get the hang of it. So it goes.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Foundry VTT licence bypass?English
16·2 years agoNot aware of any cracks. I use the felddy image on my Unraid setup and the first window on a fresh install asks for the license. Same goes for when I run locally on Windows. I’m sure there’s a crack out there, but I’m not aware of it.
All I can offer is my full endorsement of Foundry. It’s worth the money. If $50 is a bit steep at the moment, I think they do offer a small discount with an anniversary sale each year. Not sure when that is exactly.
Switched from paying Roll20 an annoying monthly fee and it’s more than paid for itself now. There is even a tool floating around to export active Roll20 games for use in Foundry. I remember it being pretty inefficient, but better than starting from scratch.
Been using Enpass for something like a decade and it’s been perfect. One time licenses can be found on stacksocial, I think.
I wanna like it but for whatever reason @skiff.com just sounds a bit silly for an email.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•PasswordManagement: which one of these options would you choose?English
1·2 years agoIt’s not open source, so that’s an easy deal breaker for some. Considering the vaults are encrypted and Enpass itself stores nothing on their servers, I’ve been okay with it. The vaults just exist on my phone and wherever I’ve chosen to back it up (OneDrive, GDrive, Nextcloud, NAS, etc).

1·2 years agoI like Enpass. $25 lifetime sub via Stack social. Does the trick. If they ever pull the rug out on lifetime folks, I would go to Bitwarden.

41·2 years agoThey sound minor, they look hilarious, but then your smile fades as whatever is causing the bug blocks input to try and get past it, forcing a reload. I’m LOVING this game, but out of the 20 or so hours I’ve been able to sink into it since launch, a solid 2-3 of those hours have been retracing steps or generally trying to circumvent big bugs.
(Full disclosure: I am playing exclusively on the Steam Deck which I am 99.9% certain is the reason for all of the bugs I face)

283·2 years agoYup. Folks looking for stuff to be salty about. Those admins were protecting their hides and had every right to do so. Hosting carries risks. What could have been handled better was communicating this (a day or three beforehand + not on Discord lmao). The people acting like this is some sort of unforgivable problem are just being dorks. Don’t like it? Pop onto a new instance. It’s easy and is a perfect example as to why Lemmy is great.
Edit: Worth mentioning that the piracy community is among the most active groups on the entire platform. As a viable alternative to reddit, I don’t think piracy being the face of Lemmy is a great look. Newcomers may start on LW and never need or want this community. Those who want it WILL find it.

Seems like this might help with library management / metadata handling. Can anyone here vouch for it? Using jellyfin for my music library at the moment and I have found it’s music management to be lackluster. Tracks with features showing up as distinct artists seems to be it’s latest hurdle.
