Getting off topic here but metals and paper too. We don’t have organics bins here. Only in the past few years has a third party service become available.

It’s mostly for recycling since garbage is bagged. In my town you’ll get a notice of you recycle things that clog the sorters.
There was more checks when it was by hand. They’d slap on a sticker and refuse pick up. I prefer the nasty gram.
Are there still municipalities that haven’t automated the container pick up part of it? Those trucks have the added benefit of having cameras track what is dumped at each address.
And if that doesn’t work, try it again while violently jiggling the steering back and forth.
This is actually an argument for why these features should be mandatory. Traffic is caused by humans and their silly emotions. These types of self driving features with inter-communication would erase traffic jams.
The problem with parenting advice is every kid is different. This becomes clear after raised a gaggle of them. Anyone with one child that is giving advice is clueless.
My suggestion is not to give that type of child options. Tell them what’s happening. Then do it. May that not work any better and ignores why you may have started giving them choices.
You didn’t specify an age but typically choices are best for later development. Toddlers are terrorists and one should never negotiate with a terrorist.
Anyone have a version of this with less potato?

Most people who use Linux don’t tie their personality to it. I’ve long suspected that Lemmy has few of those.

They lack the ability to enjoy self deprecating humor and handle feelings but this is most often expressed by downvoting.

If someone was claiming they were working on making a game that contained all games, we would all laugh at them because we know gaming well enough to understand there absurd. But when we talk about computer intelligence like that, some people are like, “well, maybe” because they don’t understand computer intelligence.
Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Piracy surges as streaming costs drive viewers awayEnglish3·30 days agoWhy isn’t there a similar service for TV and movies?
Because Steve Jobs died before he could hypnotize the executives into do it.
Only half kidding, people forget that’s how we got all the music labels together, it was Apple iTunes Store which later became streaming.
There were a few weird awkward music stores but Apple did it better and this was early 2000’s when their brand was barely recovering from near bankruptcy.
Netflix streaming didn’t launch until 2007 and didn’t really take off until 2011, the same year Jobs died.
Netflix was the only one that was positioned to do it but they couldn’t pull it together because they didn’t have the reality distortion field that Jobs had. Netflix had to push into original programming instead to survive and the brand has long since enshittified.
Can’t help but wonder if whatever pitch Jobs used to sell record labels couldn’t have been reworked to convince the movie studios.

I especially like how it centers over the Pacific, the largest geographical feature.
Other maps make the Pacific look similar in size to the Atlantic when in reality the Pacific ocean is three times the size of the Eurasia landmass.
Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•US Senator tells his constituents 'Get a life' when asked about calls and emails his office has been gettingEnglish51·1 month agoI don’t disagree there. What i disageee with is that the Democratic Party cannot be salvaged. We can take it by force if needed me. The issue I see with it is there it full of boomers and genx-ers with boomer mindsets.
We need to primary all those fuckers so we can move forward. The ideas of Democratic Party resonate with people, the junk the centrists have are all Republicanesque.
I am immediately reminded of one such loser who laughed at the idea of $15 minimum wage back when they were in a position to push for it.
I don’t like the term DINO (democrat in name only) because it sounds like a purity test but it’s time we take action to push these people out by whatever means necessary.
A new party won’t work. The republicans tried it. Taking over the party worked better for them and only took a few election cycles.
We need to unify and stop the in fighting. Anyone who resists or says liberals are just and bad or any other negativity towards a rebuild need to told to fuck off. They are not worth engagement.
For example, I will not respond to weasel but I will jump into to anyone attempting to engage with them. That’s the entry point. Not these doom and gloom motherfuckers.

I believe Mr weezel is from a red state, I want to say Texas and all conversations indicate he has fallen hard for the anti democrate propaganda. He’s likely a libertarian (diet republican) but I can’t recall specially, there are a lot of leftist™ on here, aka Tankies.
Both have tha same complaints and the same level of emotional intelligence so it’s really hard to tell them apart despite the ideologies being completely opposites.
Either way, his suggestion will ultimately allow a continued right wing majority.
I’ve never worked as a server but I did date one long ago who said something to the effect, “that $5 means more to her than you” and while I was not nearly as financially stable back then, that idea has stuck with me.
An extra isn’t going to make or break my day but it could make someone else’s day.
Another way I’ve been thinking about this is how for a brief moment you someone’s “boss.” If you’ve ever complained about unfair compensation what does it say about you that you’re using than brief moment of power to be what you hate.
Have you had kids? Did you attend any of their doctor appointments?
Knowing how often their diaper is changed is medical information the doctors will ask.
Also, the 500 is just the mortgage payment. It doesn’t include the insurance and property taxes and, at least in the USA, private-mortgage-insurance (pmi) if the down payment isn’t at least 20%.
The monthly obligation can easily be more than that 1000. The savings is in locking the first half in at a set amount.
