(one to two word reaction)
All dandelion like discussion topics (strong, competitive and parasitic to other topics, viral) need to be isolated to their own deticated communities and spaces. Dandelions are great in salad from what I hear and are lovely flowers, but I dont want them in my rose garden or it will choke out and kill my roses. Politics is important and admittedly kinda fun, but I dont want it here.
Cool, but umm, wrong community. Try @news@lemmy.world
From what I know, its a communist idea that all governments are inventions and that we are “trying them to see if they work”.
Please tell me you picked this image on purpose.
Just outside the voting location, a giant billboard that says, “Vote yes, says the terrifying building sized gremlin of the state”
The form needs to add “updated system while not using an lts kernal”. (Screen flickering is beutiful on an amd and nvidia duel GPU machine)
Usually if its a boolean or nullable, a good config file will have a # uncommemt this line to enable this feature/disable this feature/bind to this IP address/give this thing a name
that is at least vaugely hints what the option does. But yes, its still fairly annoying.
Being the ‘correct one’ makes it easy to skip over… thx
Which one is your favorate, mine is ~/freedroid/.
😝
Or ~/.local/share/${software_name_or_whatever}
…
Or ~/.${software_name_or_whatever}/
Oof
Actually its phone OEM googled AOSP linux or as ive started calling it OEM+Google+AOSP/Linux /s
Googled android or “Google/AOSP” is probably correct
Clearly not, lol. Every vulnerability is spectere aparently. (To be fair, the other CVE this week is hardware based)
Its a CPU bug only the kernel can fix 🤒.
The kernel is responsible for its running hardware.
Am I dumb? that’s the spectere and meltdown bug. xz-utils malware is a whole other thing, lol.

Yeah, pretty sus
female genital mutilation
okay… wow.
circumcision is a harder to understand, wrapped in the cloak of medical hospitality to be blunt, its a different form of female genital mutilation.
I believe its a remnant from old Christianity (Judaism?), where it would mark and/or purify the child in some way. If I’m not mistaken, the god of Abraham communicated that things like sacrificing lambs and other rituals isn’t useful as a sign of good will.
but yet this literally unholy practice remains to this day.
to be absolutely fair, mom said yes, telling me the doctors said there was some kind of health benefit, somthing about infections.
Oddly enoigh, they recognize this and are patching the hundreds of tiny holes. I would argue they began trying (IMO malformed) fixes back since the launch of windows 8 and .NET. It’s backwards compatability means tiptoing around some pretty huge tech dept. (Windows was DOS and had no security model at one point) Each time they try to pull people off of their older SDKs. If and when they dont stick, the pile of stuff to support grows one more.
(Also WTH where they thinking with windows 8 apps!? The oversimplicity of the UI leading to huge patches of unused screen space, the art design or lack thereof, the janky unpolished UI elements. It’s embarrising for how much pride they had for it.)
