It’s not just about music. Like some bars and restaurants with modern interior have shitty acoustics, since they are open spaces with concrete walls and large windows. I went to a restaurant recently, wasn’t super crowded, music was played at low volume, still had a hard time hearing people. Since everyone in the room had to speak louder and louder to make themselves heard and overcome the reverb in the room.

And what about the Romance languages. They call Germany “Land of the Alemanni”, they called an entire country full of different tribes after a single Germanic tribe that lived near the French/Italian border. It’s like calling the entire country of the Netherlands Amsterdam.

Linux@lemmy.world•Why do servers and supercomputers primarily run on Linux and not on some Microsoft/Apple/Google/Amazon OS?English
5·8 days agoBecause being beholden to a single mega corp is a massive business risk. If MS decides to yank support or they go under then you suddenly need to migrate to a new OS for your entire server farm with all the problems that come with it, like having to port all your custom software to the new OS. Also if the US decides to sanction the country your business resides in than you are also fucked if you run your entire IT infrastructure on Windows. Linux being opensource mitigates all those problems. Like if for some reason you can’t use the distro you use you can always migrate to a fork.
So boofing it is the way to go?

Well the West is know for their baked goods and pastries. Like croissants, donuts, churros, etc. Like in East Asia and South East Asia a lot of the pastry that is for sale is based on Western recipes and they are different from the local pastry recipes.

Well all my friends will come with a partner and kids. So if I invite 3 friends that’s already 8 to 12 people.

2·25 days agoThey might be perfect for a workout space. Just place a panel right above where you work out and when you turn the panel on you feel the heat immediately, since the infrared waves gets blasted straight on to you. And you don’t have to heat the entire garage. Or hang one on a wall with a swivel hinge and you can change the direction of the radiation so when you move to the other side of the room you can aim it to that side.

4·26 days agoMaybe the Kelvin Smart Space Heater. It’s a radiant heat panel. Works with Alexa and Google Home but if you pair it with their thermostat it works with Matter and Home Assistant out of the box.

https://www.cnet.com/home/smart-home/this-shiny-black-panel-is-one-of-the-best-home-heaters-ive-tested/Also don’t compare the wattage of these panels with a normal space heater. These panels are more efficient since they radiate infrared right onto the surfaces of your room and on to your body, instead of heating the air and letting the warm air warm the room and yourself.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Valve is stopping production of LCD Steam Deck models, once sold out they will be gone forever
1·28 days agoFortunately the NVMe is not that hard to upgrade. Like if you can replace a battery in an iPhone you can change the SSD in the Steam Deck.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•My culture also loves music, dancing and telling stories
5·1 month agoAnd you can basically divide these cultures by latitude. Like in Europe the further north you go the less people care about gastronomy. Since these cultures were formed around food scarcity and pure survival, since they had very harsh winters ( before global warming), and the days up north are short in the winter and spring comes later. And before you go “but China and Japan”. Beijing is on the same latitude as Madrid and Tokyo is even further south, so that still tracks.

It’s even crazier that office spaces are designed like that. And then managers are suprised that everyone wears headphones in the office.
