41·3 months agoAnd if you paid any attention to those reports, you would know that the vast majority are where those people have been critical of the UK or other govts actions, especially surrounding Palestine and none have gone further with the exception of Asa Winstanley. The only reason the police have visited those people is because zionist like complaining about nothing until they get their own way.
The one that the commentor here was responding to was a clear case of inciting violence. The same with people like the constantly crashing out Graham Lineham, who was arrested by police because he was inciting violence against a protected class.
So while the UK govt is infringing on peoples free speech, its not the ones who are getting all the publicity. Theyre just a bunch of whining fuckwits who want to be able to threaten people without consequence.
Please do try to keep abreast of the situation rather than stomping in with big boots and looking like a fucking idiot.

You should ask that of yourself. Youre the one who brought up paedos. Maybe you get all too muddled in your head and cant make a salient point?

She was inciting people to burn down hotels housing vulnerable people. Some of those padeos you bleat about were at the protests while 60% of those arrested at a protest in Bristol have form as domestic abusers

377·3 months agoThe UK is imprisoning thousands for their tweets.
What an absolute loads of bollocks.
There has recently been 1 woman jailed for her tweets where she admitted to inciting violence, not because of free speech issues.
These libertarian wankers love citing that sole case (and make out that it’s “thousands, I tell ya!”) but will overlook that several Just Stop Oil protesters were jailed for 4 years just for holding a zoom call and anti-genocide protesters are being arrested and charged with terrorism offences just for writing on a bit of cardboard.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•New digital ID scheme to be rolled out across UK
15·3 months agoThis is typical of Starmer: an empty vacuous authoritarian solution to an already solved problem.
It will do nothing to stop undocumented workers from being exploited by unscrupulous employers who will still pay them a pittance in cash but will add to the already massive surveillance state, and with the inevitable mission creep, it will end up being required for innocuous day to day tasks such as getting prescriptions, seeing medical services, possible even things such as purchasing travel or alcohol.
Then you can imagine what happens if someone ID is deactivated, accidentally or on purpose.
With future govts, what if one of them wants to prosecute it’s political opponents?
It’s just the most stupid idea from a guy that is a completely lame duck prime minister

You’re just projecting here.
I merely pointed out that everything is politics and yet you respond with yet more bleating.
and their pet issues
And you respond further by shoving your head further up your own arse.
Your response being a great case study in how you can do exactly that while also implying that no one else even has problems to begin with.
Are you trying to make yourself out as the victim here?
What a fucking crybaby!

312·4 months agoWhen can we stop inserting politics into every little thing?
When I see comments like this, it makes 2 things plainly obvious:
- The commentor is naive and doesn’t understand that fundamentally ‘politics’ is the power dynamic in every relationship, be that between people, groups or with structures or things such as food.
It is in everything and connects everything. It defines your relationship and how you interact with the world and it’s relationship to, and interaction with you.
- The commentor has enough privilege that they don’t have to worry about politics/power structures on a daily basis.
Some people can’t see the wood for the trees
