AI needs constant data to stay up to date, so i think it’s still worth it.
Personally I’ve found a happy medium between total privacy and convenience.

Maybe AAA games just don’t need to be as large or sprawling. Release one full campaign with everything you need included in the price. Then if it does well offer dlc.
As the article points out, balder’s gate was early access for 3 years, sold at full price, and still has bugs. It’s not an exception to the rule, larian just delivered a good product that had good source material behind it.
For me, it’s definitely option 2. I really like the way Dark Souls handles it, where the armor sets looks the same on both genders, and everyone can be as tart or as modest as they like.
Maybe there’s a case to be made for a setting in BG3 that pixelates the naughty bits, but looking through youtube comments on BG3 romance scenes (for science!), most people seem to think the nudity is funny more than anything else. The few complaints about nudity really seem to be about the fact that they have to look at a dick/gay couple, which i don’t have too much sympathy for.
Are people really mad about nudity, or are they just mad that it’s not all het nudity?
Edit: ok so after some research, looks like full nudity is an optional setting, and all body models (male or female) can have dicks or vulvas. Which makes me think there’s an anti trans component to complaints as well.
Just navidrome & the Synology suite (drive, photos, video)
I’m lazy 🫠
I have a feeling that once they start getting into how exactly to implement ActivityPub, they’re going to run into the existing issues, decide it’s not worth the effort, and just quietly not do it.
To me, “This community does not affirm practiced LGBTQ+ lifestyles” isn’t hate speech, but is anti-lgbtq, which is a thing the admins of lemmy.world are right to take action on if they’re trying to cultivate an instance that is friendly to lgbtq folks.
I think that’s why even though the community had additional rules in the sidebar about not condoning violence against lgbtq, and athiestmemes has content Christians find offensive, the admins deleted the community. It’s clearly still a contested subject within the thread, but at the end of the day lemmy’s general response to people that don’t like the rules of their instance is to find another instance.
Something else to note is that there are multiple levels of shunning in fediverse. The admin in the thread deleted the community, but would still federate with a server that hosted it.
I’m also concerned about the potential for embrace/extend/extinguish, but searching for other fediverse users and posts is enough of a hurdle that threads might end up naturally staying a fairly separate instance.
What was their reasoning? It wasn’t as if you were writing other students’ papers. What’s wrong with some notes?
Definitely agree that lemmy has a wild west feel to it right now, and like you, i love it.
But most people have very low tolerance for interruption to their experience and just want it to work, no matter who is running it. For my part, I’d like to see the process of searching for new communities and accounts get smoothed out, and maybe process of linking to a post on another instance.
On the other side of the coin, a lot of the tools needed for effective moderation on a large scale are still in the process of being made. Beehaw defederating from 2 other large instances threw a wrench in the works, but hopefully they’ll refederate once better tools are added.
Tbh Lemmy (and the rest of the fediverse) isn’t ready for mainstream use 😔
This is like a reversed “Under the Sea”
Are there any countries that aren’t using AI to automate workers out?
I feel like several things are intersecting here:
PC gaming took off in the 90s. I’m not clear on the history of consoles but I’m wondering if they became widespread in the 80s? Having these devices at home probably created a larger generation of gamers.
Gaming was “for boys” until very recently, and tbh the inclusion of women as the default audience for games is still a work in progress. Game protagonists are usually male, romance options usually assume the player is a straight man, even the quests and the way NPCs are written are colored by these assumptions.
Video games have gotten so much more complex in a very short amount of time. The storylines are richer, the writing and visual effects have gotten signifixlcantly better. Someone who has only experienced early arcade games or clicker mobile games wouldn’t see gaming in general as a worthy hobby for adults.
Most news sites have rss feeds, sometimes even by category.
Tumblr also supports rss, and a bunch of people have fandom specific or aesthetic blogs. Tumblr’s tag system remains one of the best, so I’d use that to find interesting blogs to follow.
Wow the potential for a /c/lemmydrama is already brewing with that admin’s responses lol.
I see what they mean about petite/young looking people, but is this the hill they really want to die on? They’re making proper moderation more difficult for themselves by splitting hairs.
The person carrying these is probably wearing cargo shorts
Power users to me are people who don’t use the default settings/apps. Could be add ons, could be third party apps.
That’s still a big range in tech savviness, but it generally separates out people who are willing to troubleshoot, put up with a bit of wonkiness in their experience, and in general care more about how the powers that be operate the site/software/whatever.
Mindflayers but instead of multiple tentacles it’s just multiple dicks
