I use MullvadVPN and recently started using Mullvads leta search service. It is basically a Front End for Googles Search APi. The result of an external audit was released recently.

The results arengood so far, but I’m not sure if I’ll be using it long term.

I keep my devices (phone and tablet) in sync with my PC with Syncthing-Fork for android. This fork has the ability to stay offline most of the time and only come online during specific times, to safe battery.

That method would allow you to sync any new pictures from your phone with your PC once you connect to your local network. Managing and editing the photos would be the next question.

Antennapod, KDE Connect, … way too many to name. F Droid (in my case Neo Store) is a great place to search. If I search for a certain use case, I check out this Github Repo that lists very good FOSS apps
