This _ might_ be the dumbest take I’ve ever seen. Clearly someone made up their mind to hate Valve and everything they see just confirms their existing biases, reality be dammed.

I think what a lot of people missed from the original video is that while it wasn’t the point, the first games did critique capitalism even if that wasn’t the main point. Would highly recommend people check out Tim’s videos directly - each one is usually about only 15 minutes long, but taken together is a masterclass on game dev and story telling.
This just happened to me as well. Deleted all my stuff about a year ago and even happened to check last week and it was still gone. Saw this and went back to check again just now, and it had all been undeleted.
Update: just realized it’s not everything, just everything more than 5 years old
I have +1.5k hours across all the Fallout games, and in general love Tim Cain’s games, and so no surprise I liked Outer Worlds. It’s smaller in scope than some people wanted, but considering the size of the team that developed it, it’s got a lot packed into it. Writing is top notch, gun play is fun, only real knock against it was that it was too easy.
That’s like saying Cyberpunk 2077 looks like Fallout.
Yeah, I get that - it’s downright silly in a lot of ways, but I found that fun myself. If looking for Robocop-type things, you did see this, right? It’s a pretty good shooter, and the anti-corp tone is straight out of the first movie.
I mean it objectively didn’t look like any Fallout game, it certainly didn’t play like any Fallout game, and it was space opera not post-apocalyptic. But please explain to me exactly how it’s just like Fallout? And which Fallout exactly?
They said “From the Creators of Fallout and Fallout: New Vegas” which is true because it was Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky. That doesn’t mean the game is going to be FNV. Every interview they gave, they were clear about it. But a bunch of people saw the word “Fallout” and immediately stopped listening to anything else.
Panned mainly by folks who expected “Fallout in Space” in terms of open-world and modding, but it was smaller in scope and great in writing and tone. Would recommend watching Tim Cain’s YT channel for the vids about it. The main valid criticism was that it was too easy, but I really enjoyed it.
As far as the decision behind the policy goes, the game’s community manager said on the game’s official Discord server that it was a Sony decision, not Arrowhead

This is definitely the work of Sony, not the developer. There is no motivation for the developer to require PSN signups for the game and all the motivation in the world for Sony. In addition, anything dealing with how the game is distributed is solely within the purview of the publisher- the developer almost never has any say in what happens in that case.
That’s because there’s nothing he can do - this was Sony’s decision as the publisher and the developers can’t do squat about it unfortunately

Just curious as why not Portal 2? That’s honestly one of my “chicken soup” comfort food games - Portal 1 is great but to me, Portal 2 is so much more.
“Most indie companies” neither hire consultants nor add a bunch of full time employees - they don’t have the money for it. At first I was thinking you just didn’t understand how games are made, but now I’m thinking you don’t understand how general business works.
The problem is the laymen expect it to do reasoning, so the sales & marketing team says that it can do reasoning, and then the CEO will have consumed the Kool-Aid and restructure the company because he believes it can do reasoning.
