low-effort
People always underestimate the work that goes into making sure stuff works. These packages need to be built so they add a lot of compile time to the pipeline, these packages have limitations inherent to 32 bits so they also add troubleshooting and bugs. This is time and resources that could be spent elsewhere.

Apparently there’s a few problems with the flatpak version, like you can’t run gamescope or start a steam big picture session.

This would kill the fun for everyone but the best. SBMM is there to protect casuals and new players, aka 90% of players.

The problem with this line of thinking is that it applies to literally anything: “If you’re not comfortable, don’t let your kids smoke”. A lot of parents are shit or just don’t care to micromanage their kids’ life. That’s where the government needs to step in and decide what is ok for the kids to be exposed to or not.
Parents ultimately always have the veto choice, but whether Roblox is appropriate for kids to begin with is the real crux of the issue. The CEO just doesn’t want that discussion to happen for obvious reasons.

Good. Make them open their platform to third party stores. Make them open their bootloader.

Consoles have been pcs under the hood for a while, they could run pc games just fine, they choose not to. Sony could implement a browser for their 500$ walled garden, they choose not to. Sony could let you install another OS on the PS5, they choose not to.

I dislike microsoft as much as the next guy, but xbox doesn’t have a monopoly on phones, or really any presence at all. Competition on android is good for everyone but google.

The very first cutscene has a worm crawling into your eye aboard a ship with brain-eating mindflayers, talk about setting the tone.

Typically prices go down, not up. This is already the cheaper version.
Chromebooks are a privacy nightmare and have shitty lifespans though. It’s a poor comparison too because at this point you’re buying new hardware instead of installing different software.
Modern distros are very resilient as long as you stick to the big ones, maybe even more than windows. There’s plenty of benefits for regular people too. A few off the top of my mind, the OS doesn’t have ads, no privacy minefield, less malware. Gotta keep in mind that at the end of the day, most people only use their pc to open the browser.
Matrix is only a protocol. Take a look at its implementations.
But yeah, none of these are discord.
I highly doubt there isn’t an opened issue about it.
There’s actually not. But there’s an open MR.
Well the first step would probably be to open an issue.

Like I said already: I have never had that problem in any other project.
If you think there’s a problem, you should report it.
If they don’t see my worth or I am actually worthless to have around I’ll search for someplace else.
Gotta stick around to find out.

It’s like this everywhere, you’ll always be initially met with circumspection. Passer-by contributions are not a help, helping out new contributors is a lot of effort that not every maintainer wants to deal with. You want to help, that’s great, but you’re not entitled to helping.
Gnome might be a club, but it’s definitely not closed, you just need to put in the effort to show you’re worth having around.

Well as far as i can see you’ve only had a problem with evince, which is retired btw. Gnome isn’t a giant blob, each maintainer handles their project in their own way.
