How does this work? I’ve been considering using a Raspberry Pi for Pihole, but I’ve been discouraged as it wouldn’t work for YouTube anyways. How I understand it is that Pihole is DNS, which just blocks certain domains. Since Youtube ads and videos are indistinguishable from a networking POV, it won’t be able to block them. Am I wrong? A reducer “reduces” a list of values to one value with some function by applying it to 2 values at the time.

Definitely, although I’m sure that under the hood it’s all the same. Some (albeit high-level) languages also support a sum function that takes a generator as an input, which seems pretty close to this math notation.
