Unfortunately I’ve heard the list is not well-enforced, so the do-not-call list functions more as a list of confirmed working numbers with humans on the other end. That’s why I’ve never tried using it…

I get probably 5 spam calls a week so if that keeps growing, I might have to give it a try…

I’m cool with it in that state. But my concern here is that while it starts out innocent, if demand increases, it’s only a matter of time until they start mining it and chartering more ships to transport it. Especially in an economy like Greenland’s.

This same pattern has been followed a thousand times in the past. Lots of instances of abusing our natural resources start out innocently.

Setting a default filter mode for comments. I could find a way to do this in settings, so maybe I’m missing something, but I’d expect it to be the same as default filtering for posts.

Hello 👋 new to fediverse - what are the benefits of running your own and connecting in to these communities, compared to just making an account on an instance that already exists?

I imagine if you run your own, you don’t lose access to your account compared to if, say, your account is in lemmy.world and it goes down. Is there more to it?
