Why does Totem need to be replaced?

Totem is still a GTK3 app and is unmaintained (in part due to a crusty codebase), seeing no major development in years. Replacing it with a modern GTK4/libadwaita app designed to use modern technologies and meet modern needs has been a “high priority” for GNOME.

I do wish it had a self hosted docker though. I could see Proton mail and thunder mail adopting it that way, which would be neat.

I still think DOGE is just feeding all that information to Palantir, and everything else is a pretext to that goal. They want an AI embedded directly into the government, making a large dependency on it, and bypassing checks and balances quickly has allowed that to happen.

As well as the deflation of their currency, as the currency increases at around 10% a year, as you’re praying that a CPI that does hedonic adjustments and substitutions maintains your standard of living; as we go from free range to factory farms, and housing appreciation is excluded entirety.

Maybe it wont be bitcoin, maybe it will be fractional shares, or spot convert gold, but I am definitely waiting for the day when I can hold 0$ in cash. I’m already near 0, but I’d like to replace it entirely.

It’s objectively more private, if you take your own bias out of the equation. Monero doesn’t get much use however, its not very popular but it is private.

Its interesting they don’t have all the services Proton does. I’d pay them for a email and VPN combo.

Gitlab Id say. It even works as a OAuth server. The docker container is very easy to setup.

I like a BeOS style vertical taskbar with window names. Neither of them do it well.

Not to mention DRM. They want to own your computer and prevent any kind of modification so that movie producers give them money.

Stronghold Defense mod is amazing. It’s basically a base defense game against hundreds of enemies parading towards you, with custom weapons and power ups.

Oh thats pretty neat. I know Cosmos Cloud had some interesting functionality similar to that, with Oauth support for everything. Though I’ve not tried it.
