The em dash is a big giveaway, but those are also common with people who read a lot of fanfic (cough autistics cough). Because the em dash is commonly used in fanfic dialogue, so fanfic readers and writers get used to seeing and using it.
At this point. I just block anyone I see using the em dash. Will a few false positives slip in? Sure, but I’m confident that I’m blocking more bots than nots.
