Next? Keep pushing linux so it becomes the standard for gaming. And maybe try again with a steam machine, I think the market is ready after the success of Steam Deck.

Or even better, play an old game that you still haven’t played. I can get titanfall 2 for the price of a coffee and play it for the first time if I’m craving for a good AAA fps.
Looks at:
AAA games costing 100€+ between base game and season pass.
Online services on consoles constantly raising prices.
Consoles that, over the time cost more instead of less.
Wages frozen in time for years.
Rest of unrelated to videogames stuff but that drain people’s wages.
I WONDER WHY YOUNG PEOPLE SPEND LESS IN VIDEOGAMES…
Isn’t this news from 3 months ago?
I’m testing this this evening. My only gripe with soulseek is that if I want to download a playlist from spotify, I need to manually search for each song.
Soulseek is your friend. Setting up your library will be a tough step, but once done, you’ll feel so free that it will be worth it.
Go figure. Probably they are going to monitor traffic somehow to see if you visit certain websites and if you stay on them for too long, they flag you as a pirate. I’m not concerned, I browse the internet through a vpn.
In Italy they are aiming to block not only soccer streams but any audiovisual content. And they are threatening to fine people using the sites, unlike before, when only the site owners could be prosecuted.
Depends. If we take from when I was a kid? Probably something in the hundreds of thousands or even in the millions. I pirated pretty much everything because I lived in a very small town with no electronics shop so I couldn’t even buy games.
However, in the last 8 years or so? I find that I rarely pirate games anymore. Bundles, steam sales and refunds allow me to buy without worrying about liking the game.
Music is also something I don’t pirate anymore. I’m not one needing thousands of tracks, but rather a small and select collection. So I occasionally buy from bandcamp or other services so I can keep the music I want in my jellyfin server.
Films and shows are a different thing tho. At home whave netflix, so for most stuff we go there, but if something’s not there, I’ll pirate it. So… idk but… some hundreds? I’m not a fan of movies and most of the stuff I watch (which is not a lot) is on netflix.
This was a nice read. I just discovered today these post and it was a great sum up of news. Keep up the good work!
Ohhhh raytracing is required? Awesome, I can’t play it so I guess I don’t even have a reason to follow it for price drops. Oh well, Selaco’s new campaign act is about to drop, I’ll guess I will give it a rerun instead of playing doom.
I just ditched spotify completely in favour of a jellyfin private server that works like spotify for me. If I want to get recommendations, listenbrainz gives me a weekly list based on what i listen.
It’s funny tho. Europe has no new tariffs against China or other countries from where the consoles come. Yet, they raise prices for us too. Well, what to say if not fuck you, microsoft and fuck you magastan? I’m not gonna pay for the tariffs an asshole who’s not my president put in place in a country which is not mine.
“When I’m driving, I’m the most important person in the world!!”
Sure, mate, but there’s a problem here, see? Physics don’t give a fuck.
It’s way easier than this: if the game includes in-game purchases with real money of any type, the game should be +18. That’s all. A kid can’t have a credit card for obvious reasons, I don’t understand why would they have access to a system that asks for one.
I’ve been doing that for years. And I’m trying to make my friends see how these things are bad for them even if they don’t pirate.
But then, Nintendo releases a new Pokemon and everyone goes “eh, I know that Nintendo is the worst, and I know they are harming the industry… but I can’t skip this pokemon game!”.
Nintendo customers suffer from a big case of Stockholm syndrome and nobody can’t convince me of the opposite.
They are probably highly understaffed. Also underfunded, and working on yearly releases.
There is reason for this: either greed or incompetence. Or both. There is no reason for game freak to keep their studio so small if not to save money or because they can’t manage more people. They have the most profitable IP in the world, it can’t be a lack of funds.
Not only. BotW was a wiiu title too, so it had to be made considering the limits of wiiu!
Something selling in the tens of thousands of millions at every release has zero reason to do better.
If any, it has all the reasons to find the lowest point in which they keep selling that much so they can cut effort as much as possible while maintaining the income.
Yes. But let’s be honest: every store that has arrived to pc to “kill steam” has done what to actually kill steam?
It’s like every time someone thinks of creating a steam competitor the process goes like this:
“Hey, let’s see what is Steam doing well, what do users love about the store… And do the complete opposite to it in hopes that users ditch steam for us!”
