Gaming@beehaw.org•Gooner game of the year Stellar Blade's mods are 41% smut, ensuring gamers will never see the light of heaven
5·5 months agoI couldn’t make it through the whole 2hr essay, but I can’t disagree with some of his criticisms of the game. It’s just that they never bothered me, and I found the AAish quality of the game really cozy.
I completely agree with him about just how manufactured the “woke outrage” seemed to be, though. I just fundamentally believe “woke” lost its meaning some time ago and doesn’t really define anything anymore. It is really handy for letting mindless culture-warrior types flag themselves, though. I certainly doubt the IGN article was the ONLY article criticizing eve’s character design, but I think it served as a great example of just how far up their own asses the anti-woke crowd love to be.
Looking at the US PS store, atm Lies of P is on sale at $29.99, and this expansion goes for the same price, bringing the total to $59.98 if you buy them separately. This seems like the best option right now.
If you are a plus member, the Overture bundle, which is the exact same thing but in a single purchase, is on sale for $60.29 (31 cents more). Otherwise it’s $89.99.
For me personally, I’m interested in the game, but my time is split between so many other really great games at the moment that I don’t see myself really tempted into purchasing this until the bundle gets to something like a 50% discount.

1·6 months agoI don’t personally know anyone on game pass, and only one with Nintendo online, so that seems accurate. But it doesn’t matter. Releasing AAA games day one on a subscription model isn’t sustainable for Microsoft or the studios participating. Those prices will go up and the service will enshitify.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Deck sales still going strong over three years later
14·7 months agoI don’t think a deck 2 is the goal. I think it’s Steam OS. Third parties will be building better hardware and just throwing Steam OS on it. Your Deck 2 will be made by whoever built the hardware configuration you prefer.
Deckard is probably a means to ensure Steam OS is VR capable as well, which would also liberate PCVR from windows and meta as well.

9·7 months agoIt doesn’t hurt that a brand new console, the switch 2, will ensure new AAA releases will still be playable on older mobile hardware. It guarantees that the current deck will still be able to chug along with new releases for another 6 or so years.

5·7 months agoI remember reading news whenever I could about dinosaur planet. It was a game about dinosaurs built by rare on the same engine used by Ocarina of Time and would likely feature expansion pack support. That was like a dream team setup to me back then.
The conversion to starfox killed it for me because I never got into those.

3·7 months agoTbf, Microsoft is an American company that is probably looking for ways to address their own rising expenses. Japan is struggling economically as well, so I imagine Ninty & Sony are looking at international markets to offset their own struggles as well.
