  • I just wanna be one of those old timey blacksmiths hitting things on an anvil and getting paid for it. Nowadays though it’s all like “Throw the glowy thing into the bang bang thing and it does all the work for you!”. What if I wanna hit things with a hammer, huh?! What if I like the catharsis that comes with hitting something?!

  • I would wear suncream more often, but:

    1. I’m allergic to something in most brands of suncream so if I run out I’m having to deal with rashes all over where I used it.
    2. I hate how it makes me feel slimy after using it

There’s this Loreal suncream spray I like that I can’t seem to find that feels like water and when it’s dry, it doesn’t feel like you have suncream on. It’s perfect for me! I’m not allergic to it either so I can actually go in the sun without turning red and blotchy!

The only thing Twitter has over something like Bluesky is the fact that Bluesky is so milquetoast and nice that you don’t really get any of the drama you get on Twitter. Like, I never see comic fans going “Black Bolt would DESTROY Saitama in a fight!” and anime fans going “Nu uh! ONE PUNCH!” on Bluesky.

Same with Lemmy tbh. Lemmy is 80% politics, 5% memes about politics, 5% memes about Lemmy being better than Reddit, and 10% Linux.

  • Why would you want to though? I can understand the retro market because there is software like games that either won’t run very well, or won’t run at all on modern hardware. I’m in the market for a ‘powerful’ machine circa 2003-2005 for that exact reason.

When it comes to machines made in 2015? I’m not sure there’s a lot you can run on those machines that you couldn’t on modern hardware, apart from Windows 11.

I guess you could use them for things like media servers, but it would have to be phenomenally cheap, as in cheaper than cheap modern hardware.

Personally, my rule is a 10 year gap is old, a 20 year gap is retro.
