Sync is closed source, while most of the other apps are open source. So you can’t see or modify the code of Sync.
I’ll keep using Firefox until I’m dead or it’s dead!
Don’t forget you can also follow communities on other instances too! If you put something like !Videos@sopuli.xyz into your search box (it can be buggy sometimes, give it a few minutes and retry). It should also already show up if someone else did that already.
I’ve been looking networking/hosting types of communities. So far I’ve found selfhosted@lemmy.world, datahoarder@lemmy.ml, sysadmin@lemmy.ml. Not sure about Judo but don’t forget you can always create a community!
Yeah! Apparently a PR was open a week ago but they just merged it in today.
Yup. Then it doesn’t hurt the asshole because they can just move to a different instance with like-minded people, which is not a problem because of blocking instances!
Looks like they just merged the change in a few hours ago. Unfortunately it wasn’t released in 0.17.4, so it’ll probably be in the next release either 0.18.0 or 0.17.5
I’ve created the issue. It looks like it only affects when a video is hosted on a different instance than the one you’re viewing on. Here’s a link to the issue: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1221
~~Thanks! I’m not sure if it’s because your instance is so new or not. Can you post it somewhere on your instance and I can check if it loads there? ~~ Edit: Disregard it looks like it does
I’ll be happy to file it. Can you reply with the original video again so I can point it out? I saw the error message.
Looks like it might be a bug. In Firefox, I’m seeing “No video with supported format and MIME type found” but if I right-click and open in a new tab, it works.
I have seen others explain it like email. Email accounts will still exist regardless of if, say, Gmail shuts down. Same with fediverse instances. Unlike traditional social medias like Facebook and Twitter, people can talk to people on other sites. Imagine if people on Twitter and Facebook could reply to each other
The closest thing I could think of is other instances blocking the troublesome one. Maybe if they add support for moving your account to another instance, then you could just move in protest.
And now it looks like a gas station bathroom!
