Strange, my Yubikey allows me to authenticate using Passkeys just fine by entering the PIN that protects my stored credentials.

I guess you’re better off buying a physical security key, which offers some guarantee that the keys cannot be exflitrated from the device.

The firmware is indeed closed-source, so it’s hard to audit. But they’re popular, and a security flaw wouldn’t go unnoticed for long.

There are other vendors such as NitroKey offers an alternative that offers both open source and audited hardware and software.

This helps protect our community revenue.

I use them for our printed version of our documentation, each document has a cover page with a QR code pointing to the latest version of the electronic copy.

You can also block the instance at the account settings level (Blocks tab). That way you will not see posts from these instances on both the webUI and mobile apps.

Sadly it doesn’t have a toggle to block comments and post from users of these instances made on communities outside of these blocked instances

I wish more news organizations would do this. Make the instance only for the employees and have the public follow them through public instances.

It solves the following issues

• Social media independence
• Validate account authenticity through the instance domain name
• Ability for followers migration between instances (leave, join, change news organization)
