Given cars are becoming more and more like modern computers and most people have some preference of what side of the wheel the indicator is on: It’s surprising that manufacturers don’t allow changing the stalk side via software setting

…Why on earth would you want to allow modifying a standard configuration that has been engrained into muscle memory? I’ve never driven a car where the blinker and windshield wiper stalks were inverted, and I’d prefer it to remain that way.

      That’s kinda the point 😅

I hate having to switch between the two. Would rather leave it to muscle memory

It’s on the left because stick shift, and originally you signaled with your left arm.

No, this is a stupid idea.

Are you going to randomly reverse the brake and accelerator pedals so someone not used to the vehicle kills themselves?

Is the indicator stalk ever not on the outside? The inside stalk is for wipers.

Which side out actually falls on is which side of the car the steering wheel is on. If I were driving a right side drive vehicle, I would expect the indicator to be on the right, wipers on the left, and shifter in the center.

As mechanic I’ve driven car with signal on the left (european or european-inspired car), and i also driven car with signal on the right(japanese), honestly once you learn where the thing is it’s really just instinct(unless you drive bmw, they don’t have a signal stick). Having swappable side will drive me insane.
