It’s literally a race car, built specifically for people to get into racing at a relatively low cost. You can still buy a regular D-Max that this is based on.
All vehicles are race cars if you press the accelerator far enough.

Isuzu already supplies D-Max for the Australian SuperUtes Series, and probably for the pickup category in the Thailand Super Series too. Guess the planned one-make series is largely promotional, just like those by BMW and other European manufacturers.
285 hp isn’t much for a pickup car, so it’s gonna be sort of lower-end sports cars racing, and not too surprising that people can buy these things without coughing up a kidney. However, the Chang circuit is made for GT3 racing and such, so these slow trucks will feel rather out of place. They’d probably do better at Bira or Kaeng Krachan.

This truck only exists as a single prototype for an upcoming race series. It’s not even on any of Isuzu’s websites.

$40k in that exact configuration? Its not really going to have much of a market, even if that seems extremely cheap for what is pictured there.
People don’t usually buy trucks only to race them. If the rear wing can be removed and the bed can be used normally, then I can see more utility and therefore more sales, but otherwise I just see a company trying to market to a niche of a niche.
Feels like Isuzu just having fun with whatever race build they have and tell people they will sell it. It’s double the price of a normal D-Max, and people who can afford this and want this is just so miniscule it’s not gonna be on a normal production line.

Even if this were true, most people in the market for a racing vehicle aren’t going to pick this. This is marketed to a tiny niche of a niche, and if it had more utility options it might be more of an option to a bigger market than its current configuration.
I like that it is affordable for what is allegedly being offered, but I find it hard to believe that this is going to do well at market.
